TGIF

Yay, my first friday in my apartment!

I had my friend I grew up with come visit me last night with her younger brother and her fiancé. We had some drinks catching up. All of a sudden there is a knock at my door. It's a girl about my age and she's wondering if she can borrow some toilet paper. Her friend was moving next door to me and he hadn't bought any. I invited her in and quickly showed her around and gave her the TP. Later on, we were chillin' on my balcony and the new neighbour saw us and invited us over. We are the only 2 apartments per floor that have touching balconies. It's kinda neat, I can lean in and say hi to him and vice versa via the balcony.

He had some ppl over drinking and they shared their wine with us. His apartment is TINY omg! my apartment is huge next to his. I felt a bit claustrophobic while I was in there and when I went back to my apartment and my friends and I noticed how much room there was in my pad! holy crap his was waaay too cramped so I feel so much better the way my apartment is set totally much better!

Anyways, I'm really happy that I now have 2 cool ppl on my floor! I'm so going to try to meet everyone on my floor at least!

Here are some updated photos of what my apartment looks like so far. Keep in mind it's nowhere near fully ready! Still some boxes and lots of things missing but just a preview.

Canada day weekend

SSo C-day is just around the corner! Since it lands on a Saturday, we get the Monday off yay!

Shitty thing is that I've been asked if I could work this weekend. That's alright since I said yes. I want the money. Though I think i'm going to take it in time rather than in cash that way I won't get dinged come tax time for it. I'll be on call from Friday night till probably Monday night. I don't mind! I get payed and hopefully if I get called, I get automatically payed for 3 hours even if I just go in for 5 minutes!

The apartment is starting to take nice shape. I still have a lot to do but a lot of it is on hold until Jimmy sleeps over next cos he said he'd lend me his hammer and nails and well, I doubt he's coming over until hopefully Friday so that I can do it then otherwise, I'm going on Friday night to buy a hammer and nails cos i'm sick of waiting!

  • This girl is scared of pickles. YES PICKLES!
  • This kid has a serious problem with beans

  • During spring in Denmark, at approximately one half an hour before sunset, flocks of more than a million European starlings (sturnus vulgaris) gather from all corners to join in the incredible formations. Here is a video of the coolness

  • Where the hell is Matt??

I think we're alone now...

So I've been living in my new pad for 2 days now! It's pretty exciting but it's going to take me a while to get used to the quietness. So far it's been alright b/c Jimmy has been sleeping over, but i'm sure the first night he doesn't sleep over (which will either be tonight or tomorrow) it will be hard falling asleep in an empty apartment and an empty bed when for the last 3 weeks i've basically been living at his place and sharing his bed.

I need to find my file folder with all my stuff for my apartment cos I can't remember my parking spot number or my locker room number! All the boxes I have left are for my locker room and I'm dying to move them down there but I need to find my apartment info file folder :( I was sure it was at work but it's not! So it's either at Jimmy's place or his car (which he says isn't there) or I left it somewhere at my parents or in my parents car... hrmm :(

I have my internet and my tv set up and I get my phone set up tomorrow morning. I'm going couch shopping sometime next week. I was hoping to go before canada day but I'm not sure if it will be possible, we'll see, maybe I can go with Jimmy tomorrow.

I heard it's going to rain starting tomorrow all the way to sunday how crappy is that?! canada day I guess i'll spend it indoors! oh well :) I think I can see the fireworks from my balcony!!! yay!

OH! news! So I found out who ratted on me the day I worked from home. It wasn't the lady I thought it was, turns out it was my director! what an arsehole! Supposedly, I guess I picked the wrong day to work from home cos noone from my division was in except for the director and the lady I had mentioned I'd work from home. He came in and wondered where everyone was and the lady told them and then he asked where I was and she said "she's working from home" not thinking anything of it but he was pissed and he went and told my boss. My boss didn't really care (we talked about it today) it was my director who threw a fit but my boss told me to not worry that he's been on edge lately. My director is weird, even if I was in, it wouldn't have made a difference! I don't do the kind of work the other ppl do so even if I was in, what the heck did he expet me to do? I don't do accounting and almost everyone in my divsion is an accountant. What a maroon.

New digs

So I've finally moved into my new pad!! The move yesterday went really smoothly. I had Jimmy and 2 guy friends helping out and I they were done my move in an hour and a bit. So i'mpressed! Today I'm going to pick up mops and other cleaning stuff to clean up the place. I'd like to get as many of the boxes out of my apartment as quickly as possible. Especially if ppl are dropping in on Canada day which is in 4 days.

I'll post photos of my place once I get rid of all the boxes.

Stay tuned!

T -3

Today is a definitive scorcher! Normally I'm sheltered from the heat by the a/c either at home or at the office but I don't know what the heck is going on with the a/c at work it's brutal in here! Stupid me wore pants and 3 quarter length sleeves i'm dying on heat. We were warned when we moved to this location in March that in the summer we'd be super hot in our offices and in the winter we'd be freezing to the point where some of us would be wearing gloves while working! I so need a fan, I think I'm going to buy a cheap small fan to circulate the air it's really stuffy in here.

So I'm going this afternoon to hand over my bank draft to my lawyer and give all my post dated cheques *sigh* I hate handing over so much money!!!! I think it's finally sinking in that I move in 3 days!!

I also won a contest this morning! On a local tv show!! I only entered yesterday and I already got a call back. I love it! This is what I won:

I'm going to get a pedicure tonight YAY! Believe it or not, Jimmy is coming with me and he's getting one done too hahah. I love it!

Japanese people are insane!

I can't believe they get away with this kind of stuff. I love it!

T - 5 days

What a night!

Jimmy invited an old high school friend over with his wife for dinner. I cooked them chicken à l'orange. At Jimmy's request, it was a success just as I expected hehe ;) Anyhoo, while I was cooking the meal, we got a nasty thunder & lightning storm and we lost power for about 20 mins! I was freaking out! Thankfully it came back on. We heard it was some kind of an accident on 10th & old 10th line, I guess someone crashed into a power pole? anyone else in Ottawa hear anything about this? I didn't hear anything on the news so I'm going to call around some other friends who live close to us to see if they also lost power.

So I've been shopping around for a kitten. I'm not sure if I want to go to the humaine society and pay the $250 for the kitten or get a free one which this lady at my work is giving away. The problem with the free ones is they usually don't come with their first set of shots nor any carrying cases/litter box so I'd have to buy that seperately. The ones from the humaine society DO come with their first set of shots and are usually already fixed or they give you a discount to get them fixed at the vet. I'm not sure what to do! I'm totallly going to get one though but we'll see what happens. I may wait until later in July or Aug.

T - 6 days

A week from today I'll be stressed beyond belief moving!!! WOW. I can't wait.

I think that July is going to be a good month. Heck, this summer is going to be a great month for me. I move into my new pad, Jimmy and I celebrate 1 yr end of July, I'm going to Halifax (again) for 1 week, I got a raise at work and I'm getting my very first kitten!!

If anyone in Ottawa knows of someone who has kittens up for grabs please don't hesitate to send me their email!

I'm so glad that summer is finally here, I spent all weekend by my pool and now FINALLY have some colour to be proud of.

Jimmy has invited a friend and his gf over for dinner tonight and I'm so nervous cos I've never cooked for complete strangers before! EEK! I know what I'm cooking thankfully but it's still nerveracking. I hope they aren't picky eaters cos I'm going all out :)

Annoyed

There are days where I think I work with the best people, then there are other days when I feel I'm working with a bunch of back stabbers. Today happens to be one of those days.

My boss took Friday & Monday off and since, some of us have access to remote admin from home, I told one of the ladies on my team that I'd probably be working from home on Monday since our boss wouldn't be in.

So Monday came and went and I worked as much as I could from home. Today my boss is in and she comes over to me and says "So I heard you worked from home on Monday, why?" I was dumbfounded, I seriously didn't think she'd find out. See, it's not that we're not allowed to work from home but we have to have a legitimate excuse; doctor's appointment in middle of afternoon, kid is sick, getting something delivered, etc, plus we have to let everyone including the boss know before this happens. I of course, did none of this, only told this other lady in case she wondered why I wasn't in. I seriously didn't think it was a big deal. Well my boss thought otherwise, I got a huge lecture that I shouldn't have worked from home cos she wasn't in and bla bla bla. Whatever. I didn't have a reason for staying home I told her, I just thought I'd try out this remote access to see how well it works, I even told her that as she could see by all the emails I cc'ed her on and all the workd I completed that things were getting done.

I don't like to point fingers, but it's obvious who blabbed. What a beotch. I don't see what the point of it was for her to tell her in the first place, I would have never told on her ever. But I guess that's the difference between her and I. She was probably annoyed that she had to come in and I didn't bother. She can kiss my ass.

I now am 100% convinced that I can't trust/rely on anyone in this division. Screw them.

Pet peeve of the day

Why must ppl go on and on about their kids? Do I really care? NO!! No offence ppl but once in a while yea tell me about something your kids did but must you seriously tell me every single freakin thing they do?

This lady at my work every day she has a different story about her kids. Today it's all about how her daughter had a bake sale over the weekend to raise money for a school trip. She went on and on about what she was selling and how much she sold and who she sold to. Do I care? How is that interesting??

Anyhoo. I just had to get that off my chest! :) The day looks gorgeous out there, i'm just getting annoyed how all the nice days fall on weekdays and all the crappy days land on weekends. WHAT IS UP WITH THAT? What was the point of opening our pool if we're not going to use it? *sigh*

I had a relaxing weekend. Friday a high school friend slept over and Saturday I went shopping for decorations for my new pad. Sunday I played computer games and watched movies taped on my PVR and slept at Jimmy's. This weekend Jimmy and I are heading to a friend's cottage overnight. Can't wait!

PDI # 2

So as some of you were aware, I had my second PDI yesterday afternoon.. Basically I went to make sure all the problems that the builder and I found at the first one, had been fixed. They were cleaning my balcony when I arrived and this time I took some photos of the view! I also snapped some of my closet organizer they had built for me.

My model came with a den but I had them not build me the den and build me a pantry instead. Probably one of the best decisions I've ever made! The builder showed me an apartment, same model as mine but who had kept the den and with no pantry. AWFUL! no room! claustrophobic! I'm sooo happy I opted out for the den! The builder told me i'm one of the only ones who opted out of the den and the only one who has a pantry!!!

The gym, pool & party room still weren't ready and probably won't be until end of June so no pictures yet sorry!

I'm really happy with my view I think I'll be able to see the fireworks! :D

I can't beleive there are only about 3 weeks left before I move out OMG! I never could have imaged that time would fly this quick!
