SMOKE-FREE ONTARIO!!

May 31st marks a historic day for all Ontarians – on this day, the Smoke-Free Ontario Act comes into effect. After years of developing and passing municipal smoke-free bylaws to achieve 100% smoke-free status, we are now a 100% smoke-free province. I congratulate the province for passing one of the strongest smoke-free laws in North America.

The new provincial legislation requires Ontario to be 100% smoke-free in all enclosed workplaces and public places. In addition, it will require tobacco retailers to greatly reduce their tobacco product displays. On May 31, 2008, these displays will be completely removed.

I'm very happy about this move for various reasons. But I'm curious as to what other Ontarians have to say about this. How about other cities around the world that has this by law in effect already, how has it impacted your city?

Blogs Canada

So I've been trying to figure out ways to increase traffic to my blog and I did some searching and came across this awesome canadian blogging site!! The crappy thing is, the submit option isn't available for the time being as they do upgrades so check back often! I did some more digging and found a list of other blogging sites where you can add your blog for free click here.

Winding down

So the weekend is now done. boo :(

Since last summer, I've noticed that my weekends haven't been as hectic and party filled as they used to be. I'm going to assume it's my age finally kicking in *eek*. I don't really mind, it's kinda nice. I stayed home Friday and packed a lot! I'm so impressed 5 boxes all packed up! Saturday I helped my parents open the pool for this season (it's looking beautiful! though the water is still quite chilly) and then I went shopping for a bday present for a girlfriend. That night we went to dinner at the Merlot (the rotating restaurant on top of the Marriott hotel on the 29th floor) awesome awesome view!! there were 12 of us it was quite fun. Some of us went out for some drinks to a hiphop lounge after, I went along since I was the DD for the night. I didn't get to go to bed until 330am, it's been so long since I've done that and slept in till almost 10 *gasp* it was nice :)

Then I lounged all day watching the rest of Laguna Beach season 2 marathon and went to buy some books at chapters.

I just finished reading "Something Borrowed" by Emily Giffin. Highly recommend it as a great chick book! If you read the shopaholic series, you'll love this one! So now i'm on to her second book the continuation of that one called "Something Blue".

I was bored earlier today and searched some blogs and came across this funny blog from a pigeon's perspective. I also found chewbacca's blog which is even more amusing.

It's a sunshine day

Finally the weather has decided to cooperate with us!!

We usually open our pool on May 2-4 weekend but mother nature decided to give us rain the entire long weekend! :(

So we're a week late opening but man it feels good to know that by this time tomorrow, I'll be lying on my towel soaking some rays in the pool!

Doesn't she look beautiful after slaving all freakin morning removing the cover, cleaning it, shocking the system (with chlorine and other fun chems)

I'm planning on organizing a small intimate bbq/pool party as a goodbye party for myself before I move into my new condo.

This is something I've been doing via email for quite a while so I figured, why don't I also post a few of my fave links of the day here as well? So here you go and enjoy!

*NSFW = Not Safe For Work
*MNSFW = Maybe Not Safe For Work

WTF? Ew why!?MNSFW

So these girls got suspended for singing a Spice Girl song in their school talent show. YUP! Read it to find out why!

"Someone stole my blow-up doll!"

Awesome old dancing style combined with modern music. I love it!

Blast from the past

I'm creating this post to cross link to my friend Dan. I've also added his blog to my list of blogs on the side.

HI DAN!

I haven't seen Dan in yrs but yet we still managed to stay in contact thanks to technology. It's quite the funny story how we ended up meeting actually. Dan do you remember?? :)

I was in college, taking boring C++ course. The girl next to me was super bored and we ended up bonding that class. She had recently joined the ICQ network (omg omg remember ICQ? haha) and she wanted to meet new ppl so she was browing the ICQ network and came across Dan's profile. She thought he was cute and dared me to message him and add him to my list. I thought ah what the heck we have nothing else to do. LOL so I did. I can't even remember how we ended up talking but it turns out that an old friend of mine put him on her list too and they went both to Carleton U and ended up meeting in person before I even had met him! Go figure!!

We all hung out a few times it was fun! Dan even introduced me to this guy who I ended up dating for a couple of months. I still can't believe he's married now Dan! wtf! lol

Ah technology!

LONG LIVE ICQ!

Tsk Tsk

Can someone please remind me why it's such a bad idea to go out late on weeknights? Urghh.. I'm a bit hungover today. I hate going out late on weeknights and now I'm at work with barely any work and my boss isn't in and I could leave early but smarty pants me left her house keys at Jimmy's grrr! So now I gotta wait here all day for him to get off work and drive back to his place to pick them up before we head to my place I'm such a DING DONG!

Looks like it's gonna be a shitter of a weekend. Rain, rain and more rain! What is this? Vancouver??

Updates many updates!

So I haven't posted in 7 days, sorry guys, had nothing much to say till now. Well, I recently received remote access to use from home!!!! I love it! This is going to be so great for the days that I take holidays or call in sick and there is something urgent, I can just log on from home and access my files and transfer them back and forth to the server this is wonderful news, you have no idea. I am tired of having to email my boss or get her to call me while I'm on vacation or sick b/c she needs something done that the person replacing me can't do.

I also went to my first PDI (pre-delivery inspection) of my condo. I'm so happy it's looking wonderful. It's as small as I expected. The bedroom will only be able to fit my queen size bed and that's about it. That's alright, I don't have much else to put in there anyways cos I'm going to keep my computer in my living room/dining area since it will double as my stereo system :) My view is awesome! My windows in the living room and in my bedroom are floor to ceiling woohoo! I'm pretty excited. Less than a month guys!! I also met the girl who will be living across the hall from me. She's a friend of a friend's so I'm really excited it will be like Melrose Place! We're going on a quest to meet everyone on our floor and make more friends. We are all moving in the same week anyways. I'm including some photos so you can get a glimpse of my new pad. I go for my second PDI on June 1st. I'll make sure to take more photos since it was my bf taking these photos and he missed a few places (like the balcony view!!).

I went to a friend's wedding this past weekend, it was fun a small intimate affair. Everytime I go to a wedding, I get anxious for mine to arrive but at this rate who knows! I just find weddings in general super exciting and emotional. Can't wait for mine ;)

The last news is that my mom's oldest sister who lives in Peru is coming to visit her son (my cousin) and grandkids who live in Toronto for 3 weeks and they are all driving up along with my other aunt who lives in Toronto to stay with our family here for the May 2-4 weekend. It's gonna be pretty hectic I'm sure! Plus it's the first time that Kelly (my bro's gf) and Jimmy meet another member of my family who doesn't live in Canada. It will help them when they come with us to Peru in Jan they will already know someone at least.

I just did a fun little quiz :)

Is 'websafe' really dead??

It's a neverending battle working for the gov't and designing Aaaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhh! All these rules, all these pointless guidelines! Drive me bonkers.

All day I've been arguing back and forth with the 'big bosses' in regards to the usage of "websafe colours". They insist I continue to use the boring 216 colour palette. WTF! Do ppl still use that?? I could understand back 2 or 4 yrs ago but now a days? With the advancements of computers?!!

My back is also killing me and I'm considering going in for acupunture. Though, I'm a big wuss and I'm concerned about the pain but I heard that for a lot of ppl it works! I have sore muscles and I'm tired of going to the masseuse and coming out still in pain after paying the big bucks for a massage. We'll see though, gotta save the cash and not spend a lot the move is next month! lalalala! I"ve already started packing! I counted 5 boxes yesterday. Oh yea, that's one thing I'm pretty organized about!

Monday Blues

What a looong day! I'm done pretty much all my work and I have nothing to do. I think I've surfed the entire internet at this point!!

So remember how I won the gift card from the radio station for staples? Well, I went this weekend and bought myself an LCD monitor!! yay It was on sale so I ended up only paying about 180$ in the difference. It's a ViewSonic VA1912wb Widescreen LCD (19 inch widescreen black in colour)

I'm super happy with my purchase and to top it off, it matches my black mouse, black webcam and black tower! All I gotta do is upgrade my keyboard to be black and I'll be set.

A week from today I go in for my PDI (pre delivery inspection) I'll make sure to post photos!! I can't wait.

Bland day

So I went to the optometrist appointment with full intention of asking her about laser eye surgery and I totally forgot! DUMMY! I've been thinking more and more about getting it done sometime next yr we will see though! It all depends on how mcuh it would cost me cos next yr I've got Peru and a trip overseas to visit Jason hopefully in the summer. So if money permits then I'll get it done in the fall or spring we'll see!!

I WON I WON!!

So I found out 2 days ago that I won a contest I had entered on bobfm :D AWESOME! I ended up getting a bunch of office supplies (which I'll of course use in my new pad) and 200$ gift certificate towards Staples! Sweeeeeeeet! I was going to invest in a new comp desk but i'm not going to bother anymore. I'm just going to use it towards an LCD 20" widescreen monitor which I've been eyeing from that store! :D
